Casting Brass While the wrought copper-zinc alloys are essentially simple binary alloys, the casting brasses contain substantial amounts of other elements, added principally to enhance the casting qualities of the alloy and to impart suitable strength properties. The usual elements, added either alone or in combination with one another, are tin (1-6%), lead (1-10%), iron (0.5-3%), and varying amounts of nickel, antimony and aluminum.
